Visiting Lyra

Lyra is based at Artspace within the SPACE building on Harewood Road (a large pink and white 1930's school building with new-build flats on either side).

The entrance to Artspace is at the back of the SPACE building on Niddrie Mains Terrace. â€‹

Getting to Lyra

As part of our efforts to reach Net Zero we encourage everyone to walk, wheel or take public transport to Lyra. Click on the map for live directions from Google Maps.

  • By bus: Lothian Buses routes 2, 14 & 30 serve Niddrie Mains Road, get off at 'Wauchope Place' next to the shopping centre and it's a seven minute walk/wheel to Lyra. Or take Lothian Bus route 4 to Bingham Avenue and it's a 15 minute walk to Lyra.

  • By bike: Lyra is close to National Cycle Route 1 and is a lovely cycle via Holyrood Park and the Innocent Railway path. Please lock bikes outside the building - we can lend you a lock if you forget. We have a shower if you get sweaty and are happy to charge batteries for e-bikes and/or lights.

  • Walking or wheeling: you're welcome to store your scooter in the foyer.

  • By electric car: Between Mon-Fri 09:00-17:00, if you park in the front car park (search for 'SPACE, Harewood Road') you can book one of two chargers and get a free two-hour charge for your vehicle. Ask at the main reception.

  • By petrol/diesel car: There is free parking outside Lyra's entrance. If you're making the journey regularly, ask our team in case we can hook you up with someone else you can carshare with.

Accessibility

  • Accessible parking spaces are reserved under the windows immediately outside Lyra's entrance.

  • Lyra's Studio and Office spaces are on the ground floor of the building with level, ramped access from outside.

  • There is an accessible toilet on the ground floor.

  • There is lift access to the Theatre and Green Room on the top floor. Unfortunately, fire regulations limit the number of wheelchair users on the top floor to a maximum of two at any time.

  • There is an accessible toilet and shower on the top floor.

  • We do not currently have any induction loops in the building.

  • Access to a Changing Places toilet and/or a quiet space can be arranged - please contact lyra@lyra.co.uk with as much advance notice as possible and with any other accessibility questions, we'll try our best to help.

Make yourself at home!

We aim for Lyra to be a welcoming home environment. If you're regularly visiting the building or working here, please make yourself at home.

We encourage everyone who can do so to take off their shoes in the Studio and Theatre - feel free to bring cosy socks or slippers.

The Lyra Office is a shared space where you can work, eat and relax. We have microwaves, toasters, fridge space and crockery so you can bring your own food.

If there's something else we can do to make you welcome, please let our Venue Host Jenny know: jenny@lyra.co.uk
